BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels. As part of a historic and exciting expansion, the BBC World Service is introducing four new language services serving audiences in Kenya – Oromo, Amharic, Igbo and Pidgin, Tigrinya, Yoruba – to work alongside the existing services.
All six African language services will be based predominantly in the BBC’s Nairobi bureau, working closely and collaboratively with all teams in that office and with teams in the BBC’s headquarters in London to deliver the best service for BBC audiences.
All Language Services are multiplatform, with a multimedia website with a focus on digital video, text, interactivity for both desktop and mobile platforms, and a daily TV news programmes for each service. Each service aims to make international news relevant to an African audience and bring international perspectives to bear on African and global developments.
We are looking for people who are passionate about design and want to execute and produce motion graphic design work for the full range of output across BBC News in the Nairobi bureau.
You will have creative flair and a talent for design which will allow you to produce distinctive content always aiming for the highest design and editorial standards
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has some previous experience of working as a motion graphic designer with an exciting showreel that demonstrates their passion for design with a keen eye for detail
You will be able to demonstrate creative graphic solutions and be inquisitive about design innovation and curious about technology developments.
You will need to be able to show a competent understanding of motion design using Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
If you are competent using 3D packages such as C4D it would be useful but it’s not essential.
