We are currently seeking a junior fashion editor to work within the editorial team for Elle Magazine South Africa. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on one of the country’s leading women’s magazine’s while developing your skills within the magazine industry. You will report to the editor-in-chief and work closely with the fashion director and digital editor. Starting date 1 July. In this role, you'll support fashion editorial staff in all aspects of putting together the fashion content in the magazine and on our digital platforms

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Work within the fashion team, supporting the fashion director in producing fashion related content for print and online
  • Working closely with the production team on the dayto-day production of Elle Magazine
  • Supporting editorial team in all activities leading to publishing
  • Brainstorming ideas with the editorial team to enhance the competitive edge of the publication
  • Organising and producing fashion shoots, from concept to completion
  • Source merchandise from a wide selection of brands, retailers, and suppliers and return in the condition in which it was taken out
  • Maintain existing relationships with designers, brands, and suppliers as well as initiate new relationships
  • Maintain existing relationships with photographers and creative agencies as well as initiate new relationships in accordance to the brand
  • Ensure all deadlines are met on both print and digital
  • Attend events and launches on behalf of Elle and serve as an Elle representative at all times
  • Be an ambassador for Ndalo Media by representing the company positively and professionally at all times, while ensuring that all company matters are handled with discretion and confidentiality.

  • A minimum of three to four years of experience in a media or a similar environment
  • Strong and efficient writing ability
  • Strong production and styling skills
  • A keen interest in fashion, beauty, women’s issues, popular culture is encouraged, as well as be wellversed in current societal trends
  • Highly organised, reliable, and deadlinedriven, excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others
  • Good researching skills and the ability to work independently
  • Must be savvy with digital formats and social media
