The date for the 21st Annual Africa Business Conference has been set for February 15th & 16th, 2019 and will be following the theme, Africa Forward: Forging New Alliances for the Future. The theme emphasizes some of this years’ milestone moments for Africa and the diaspora, such as the signing of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement and the peace deal between Eritrea and Ethiopia.
The event, which will be held in Boston, MA, prides itself in showcasing the diversity of entrepreneurs who have taken it upon themselves to make a difference on the continent through innovative business ventures and social projects. The conference will see more than 1, 000 people from the African content and diaspora attending and taking part in interactive panel discussions, networking opportunities with Africa’s future business leaders and African-based companies on the look-out for fresh talent. Keynote speakers will offer inspirational insight on the topic of Africa Forward: Forging New Alliances for the Future and answer any questions that may be raised throughout.
One of the most exciting aspects of the Africa Business Conference, is the New Venture Competition, now in its sixth edition. Open to all African entrepreneurs and businesses focused on shaping Africa’s future, the competition is eligible for:
- Early Stage Startups (for profit or notfor-profit)
- Less than 50 employees
- Less than 5 years of operations
- Less than $250,000 raised in funding, to date
- Africafocused with a majority or all of its operations in Africa
Ten finalists will be elected to pitch their business to a panel of experienced judges and the conference attendees. The winner and runner-ups will receive cash prizes of $10, 000 and $5,00 respectively. The top 20 shortlisted ventures will have a chance to showcase their companies at the networking and recruiting event, Startup Fair.
