Purpose of the role:

Leading and managing the Product Auditors in various production areas to ensure continuous achievement of customer quality standards. Liaising and advising the various production departments regarding the product quality requirements. Liaising with pre-production teams to ensure that designs and patterns are fit for manufacturing. Putting systems and work aids in place to assist production personnel to adhere to quality standards. Managing the integrity of the quality records and reports throughout various production areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and train team members in order to conduct their duties at the required standard.

  • Ensure on-time approval/rejection of blueseal samples.

  • Liaise with patternmaker to ensure the Manufacturing Package/Blueseal is suitable for the manufacturing process:

  • Blueseal sample.

  • Size specifications and measurements.

  • Swatch card of fabric and trims.

  • SMV Matrix

  • Stitch density specification

  • In-depth understanding of customer quality standards and implementation and management thereof.

  • Implement and maintain the DCL requirements.

  • Liaise with the Quality Assurance Manager regarding any production non-conformances.

  • Raw Material Quality

  • Liaise with the Supply Chain Department and Laboratory Manager regarding raw material non-conformities that affect the production process.

Technical advice and assistance:

  • Suggest work-aids and procedures to ensure customer product quality satisfaction.

  • Manage and advise the auditing team to conduct regular audits to ensure conformance to quality standards and procedures.

  • Assist production on solutions for non-conformities.

  • Conduct garment construction analysis of competitive shopping items.

  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of audit reporting throughout the applicable production areas

Rec Total Quality Management:

  • Ensure TQM processes are implemented and maintained.

  • Regular evaluation of current processes and possible improvements.

  • Maintain and update all procedures and documents as required by the QMS system.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act, are properly discharged in your area of responsibility

  • You are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS)

  • You must report monthly any deviations to the SHEQ Manager on all occupational health and safety matters arising out of any site work of the company

Key Requirements and Competencies:

  • Minimum 2-3 years industry experience in a Textile / Clothing Manufacturing environment

  • Relevant qualification in Production/ Clothing Technology / Quality related qualification
