Job description
POSITION PURPOSE
Project Designers demonstrate a high level of customer service orientation by working with clients to coordinate and create design projects, renovations, remodels, whole projects, new construction and updates in a timely and professional manner. Project Designers will have design expertise and excellent product and procedural knowledge to facilitate multiple sales from all Home Depot departments; they must be experts in their assigned department, with knowledge and design capability in all design departments. Associates in this position must assess customer needs, guide customer decisions, evaluate scope of project, integrate information into a design layout, resolve issues, and drive sales. By focusing on the scope of the entire project, Project Designers serve as the professional point of contact for customers - building equity and long-term relationships to maximize the sales of Home Depot products and services.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provides exceptional project management
Answer questions about customers projects to their level of expertise
Explain the steps and products needed to complete projects
Escort customers to appropriate products necessary for their project
Describe features and benefits of products related to project
Provides fast, friendly service
Actively seek out customers in the showroom
Offer a friendly greeting, smile, and make eye contact with customers
Ask open ended questions about customers projects in order to determine their needs and level of expertise
Teams up with others to ensure customer satisfaction
Work across design team to discuss project feasibility, planning and timing
Relay customer information to others involved in the qualifying process
Interact with associates in other departments to locate products for client design, expedite delivery and maximize opportunity for cross-selling additional products
NATURE AND SCOPE
Physical Job Requirements
Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items
- Requires the ability to move around the store and maneuver merchandise when necessary
Responding to public address system announcements
- Requires ability to respond to customer service calls, personal pages and general information announcements
Moving and Standing
- Requires moving around the store to assist Customers
Identifying and reading reports, tickets and UPC labels
- Requires recognizing, identifying and using merchandise and necessary reports
Color discernment, depth perception and far/near vision
- Requires the ability to distinguish colors, judge and see objects where and as they actually are, see beyond 20 feet and see clearly within 20 inches
Feeling
- Requires the ability to determine shape and texture through touch
Environment
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements
Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the store, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface
The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy
Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions
May have to handle merchandise and work with tools with sharp edges
Passing forklifts emit gas fumes
Tools, supplies and related merchandise may contain hazardous materials
Essential Skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a trade school degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
