ECP Lecturer: Clothing and Textile Technology

Job Purpose
- The person filling the lecturing post in the Department clothing and Textile Technology at CPUT will lecture in the subject areas: Production Organisation and Production Technology and Management, which encompasses: Manufacturing Technology, Clothing and Textiles Manufacture, Cutting Room Management and Quality Management both on the mainstream programme and ECP.
- Additionally the post also covers involvement in the coordinating and monitoring of the existing ECP co-oordination,service Learning Community programmes in the department as well as the Work Place Based Learning monitoring.
Job Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Lecturer:
- Master's degree in clothing Management and Technology, Clothing Production, Clothing Design or related qualifications
- 2 years' post qualification experience required. It should preferably be a combination of lecturing in Production Organisation and Production Technology and Management, which encompasses : Manufacturing Technology, Clothing and Textiles Manufacture, Cutting Room Management and Quality Management as well as industry experience in garment manufacture or processing and/ or in a technical capacity in a testing laboratory in a garment manufacturing
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Lecturing in Production Organisation and Production Technology and Management, this encompasses: Manufacturing Technology, Clothing and Textiles Manufacture, Cutting Room Management and Quality Management on both the mainstream programme and ECP at Diploma and BTec h level.
- Involvement in monitoring students completing experiential learning in industry;
- Involvement with services for, and interaction with, the clothing and t extiles industry through the Technology Station in Clothing a nd
- Textiles;
- Administration of programme coordination in the department, which involves the ECP programme coordination and Early Warning System (EWS) identifying at risk student s early in their studies via interviews and tests and overseeing and monitoring any interventions that have to take place.
- Develop and prepare learning materials Supervise and mentor students
- Contribute to research outputs through participation in research activities
- Assist with departmental administration
- Promotion of community participation, linkages outreach and industry liaison
- Curriculum development and evaluation;
- Assessment and academic development
- Perform academic administrative duties

Competencies
- Sound knowledge of in Production Organisation and Production Technology and Management, which encompasses : Manufacturing Technology, Clothing and Textiles Manufacture, Cutting Room Management and Quality Management on both the mainstream programme and ECP at Diploma and BTech level. Specifically related to the Clothing Production pipeline.
- Proficiency in English (fluent written and s poken)
- Latest technological advances and product development in the field of textiles and clothing
- Manufacturing system s applicable to the clothing industry
- Applied knowledge of principles and practices of industrial engineering, production organisation and technology, product development
