A Celebration of Fashion, Music & Photography at the African Heritage House
In celebration of the launch of Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher’s The African Twilight coffee-table book, the African Heritage House on the outskirts of Nairobi, will be hosting a special night of fashion, music and, of course, photography.
Following a 40-year quest to document Africa’s rich cultural heritage through stunning photography and mesmerizing footage, The African Twilight - The Vanishing Rituals and Ceremonies of the African Continent by Angela Fisher and Carol Beckwith has now been published as a coffee-table book. To honor this incredible achievement, the African Heritage House will be hosting an evening that promises to be one of deeply African vibes.
Based on African Heritage Festivals held in the past, this event will feature showcases of authentic hand printed textiles and authentic African costumes and accessories as provided by Makena Mwiraria. The event, which kicks off at 6:30PM, will feature performances by dance-trio, Rare Watts, as well as the drums and percussion troupe, Jabali Africa. The MCs for the night are politician, Naomi Cidi, and radio personality, Fareed Khimani.
Featuring music and fashion pieces from Niger, Guinea, Madagascar, South Africa, Kenya, Mali, Ghana, Ethiopia, Niger and Cameroon, this celebration will dive deep into African culture and tradition by ways of Beckwith and Fisher’s work, and the entertainment offered for the night.
This event is by invitation only. Bring your copy of The African Twilight to have it signed by its authors!
