Are you following the fashion career of the ladies behind New York fashion Week’s ultimate brand? Floriana Gavriel and Rachel Mansur founded their own business in 2012 with only 2 styles, and with only a 100$ budget for their first lookbook shots, they managed to grow an empire.

What have they done well? Basically everything. The passion behind these two ladies shows us outsiders what the fashion industry is all about, and they also came across the luck of being seen by a famous blogger Garance Doré, who wrote about her love for the brand. In just a couple of weeks they brand had waiting lists and an amazing reputation – with over 500k followers on Instagram.

Business of Fashion had the chance to interview the girls and today, we share with you a summary of the top tips for success these famous designers shared.

1. Learn from many industries they say – not just the one you want to be successful in. We all know success doesn’t happen overnight, so a couple of temporary jobs while you work on your dream will be necessary. Make sure to learn about everything. You can always get great knowledge and will become a better professional if you are aware of other perceptions around you.
2. Think big and plan ambitiously. The girls say they always thought big and planned to expand their business over time in many stages. This is why when they were offered the opportunity to grow, there was no fear and they were prepared to work towards their goal; because they had already prepared for it.
3. Be ready to scale quickly. Prepare for the worst type of situation. Imagine that you have long waiting lists or that a product had bad reviews and you need to change and re-stock it immediately. Being aware of these possible outcomes allows you to be ready if they do, and if not, good luck for you!
4. Focus on the product quality as a priority. Both of the girls accepted it has been a big journey and they didn’t achieve their final idea in a short time period, but they do think it was the right thing to do because if quality is present, success will come eventually.
