Ever since Rhianna first started singing out from under her umbrella, she has established herself as an influencer. And not just in the area of music. Her influence reaches beyond music and fashion – she is the beauty icon of our decade, and through her brand, Fenty Beauty, she is inspiring women of all skin shades to treat themselves like beauty queens too.

Launched in 2017, the Fenty Beauty line was named one of “The 25 Best Inventions of 2017” by Time magazine, and was cited for its diverse range of foundations, bronzers, blush and highlighters for diverse skin tones – a gap in the market Rhianna felt had been long overlooked. Operating under the tagline, “Beauty for All”, Fenty Beauty is one of the most inclusive make-up and beauty brands available today and Rhianna is forever on the look-out to improve their product selection.

Few brands cater to darker skin tones and have been criticized for their lack of inclusivity. Senegalese model, Koudia Diop, who recently featured in the advertising campaign for Make Up For Ever and has become known as the “Melanin Goddess”, understands what it means to feel stigmatized due to a darker skin colour. Her personal experience of having been bullied over her skin tone makes her the perfect candidate to model a new future in which beauty products really are available to all: and Fenty Beauty is leading the way.

Khoudia Diop took to Instagram three days ago, excitedly announcing herself as the #FentyFace for the shade 498 Pro Filtr Foundation and Pro Filtr Concealer, as well as the coffee shade Pro Filtr Setting Powder, all of which will be available in stores and online starting January 11th, 2019. What a way to start the new year on a positive note setting the tone for an inclusive future in which all skin shades will be catered to through beauty and fashion.
