South African Textiles

 Based in Cape Town, South Africa – Cloth and Print is on the way to reinforce their reputation on the fashion industry.

Textiles are playing an important role in our life. From the small table cloth in our home to clothes we buy in shopping malls, we always want to enjoy the beauty from each piece. For Megan Smith and Luhandra Vorstman, textiles would represent for people characteristic and our daily lives. Both are two South African designers.

Sharing the same vision, they print their creations aiming to beautify spaces such as sofa covers, iPad pouches, tote bags and pillow casings.

For Vorstman, the key is to make beautiful pieces available to the public, not just the wealthy. Founded in 2014, Elle Kay Fabrics is the home for 18 original and accessible designs.  Smith’s business, Cloth And Print, focuses on variety. Her collection includes scatter-cushions, tote bags and iPad covers.

In 2016, they emerged their business replying on their academic background in textile design and years of experience. Thanks to the recent technique, they both could create colourful and lasting prints

Furthermore, they also worry how they can support local suppliers and manufactures. The two decided to use local natural linen in a variety of the products they create.
