The growth of Adele Dejak’s design career

A young woman names Adele Dejak with Nigerian roots has become a big figure in the work of accessories and design. She started in the world of typographic design and worked in both England and Italy, but later decided to move back to Nairobi in 2005 to turn her attention towards what she had loved her whole life; accessories.

Adele showed huge interest towards African made fabrics like wax prints, towards creating designs with recycled materials ,and giving work to talented artisans whom may not have had many opportunities to strive due to the lack of big design companies in the country. She became intrigued with the natural beauty of horns and started experimenting with natural products and old styled pieces to combine her designer style.

One of her first product admirers encouraged her to grow when she was just a small seller and she decided to set up a shop to create shapes and accessories to wear. Today, her European past and Nigerian roots merge perfectly in her designs, creating several “celebrated collections that reflect that same harmonious balance of east and west, masculine and feminine as well as classic and modern. She is a champion of individual style and a believer in the transformative power of adornment.” According to her website, adeledejak.com.

Her success has grown over the years and has allowed Adele to collaborate with Samsung, Salvatore Ferragamo and even involved with Vogue Talents Milan. After the success of her small shop, she has opened several others and has a line of handcrafted bags, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings. She joins the style of both strong, modern and stylish women.  The most important thing of all is that Adele has been true to her interest since the beginning. She continues to create pieces bases on what inspires her, and is based on an ethical and sustainable business model. Her business has grown so much, in fact, that she now has a team of creative designers helping her grow and maintain the quality of what started as a passion for design.
