Source Africa Trade Expo
Source Africa Trade Expo is an event organized mainly with the purpose of bringing together apparel and textile industry leaders from across Africa, Europe, and the United States. They seek to provide the opportunity for industry’s manufacturers, buyers, service providers and suppliers to network while ‘trapped’ under the same roof.
‘It is clear that Africa sits on the threshold of new opportunities for export diversification and regional integration in these industries. Moreover, there seems to be an agreement that with higher costs in Asia and the saturation of some key sourcing platforms in Asia and elsewhere, Africa has a chance to become a new sourcing destination’, - says Steve Lamar, the Executive Vice President of American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA).
What is more, the trade show is actively trying to promote African textiles, garments, footwear and fashion accessories to the International as well as African markets. Likewise, they also seek to encourage intra-regional trade between African countries, as means for textile and apparel industry leaders to capitalize on shorter distances to markets and superior tariffs.
Moreover, despite the individual participation, Source Africa Trade Expo will once again feature Investment Promotion Agencies and National Pavilions from many African Trade. “You can feel the buzz here, at Source Africa,” – describes the event Mark Newman, a US buyer party of the trade. Lastly, in this upcoming year, the show will be hosted on the 20th (Wednesday) and 21st (Thursday) of June 2018 at the CTICC in Cape Town.
